Why can’t an employee change the status of a request?

An employee can move a record only to the statuses allowed for them in the workflow type’s advanced permissions. If they can’t change the status, the reason is one of the following:

Reason How to tell Solution
The required status isn’t selected in Statuses Users Can Transition To under Status Transition Restriction. The status doesn’t appear in the status selection on the record page, the edit page, or in bulk update. Select the status in the rule.
No status is selected for the employee in the rule. The employee can’t change the status of any record. Select the statuses they are allowed to move records to.
The record’s status isn’t selected in Statuses Users Can View under Record-Level View Filter by Status. The record doesn’t appear in the employee’s list, and they can’t open it. Select the record’s status in Statuses Users Can View.
The employee has a rule under their own name that differs from their role’s rule. Colleagues in the same role can change the status, but they can’t. Edit the rule under their name, or delete it so their role’s rule applies.
🛈

Note: To edit the rule, open Workflow Types, click the options button (…) on the workflow type card, then select Manage Permissions, update the statuses in the required section, then click Save. If the employee tries to move the record to a status that isn’t allowed in another way, the change is rejected.
