Adding a Rental Unit Type

In order to manage and organize rental operations, it’s essential to define the types of units you rent out in the system. For instance, if you manage a car rental center, the unit types might be transport vehicles, 4×4 cars, and Sedans. Within each type, there are the individual rental units represented by the transport cars you have.

Steps to add a Rental Unit Type

To add a rental unit type, follow these steps:

  • Select “Rental and Unit Management” from the main menu.
  • Choose “Settings“.
  • Click on the “Unit Types” card.
  • Press the “Add Unit Type” button.
  • Input the details for the rental unit type using the following guidelines:
    • Name: Add a distinctive name for the rental unit type.
    • Status: Choose between activating the type or deactivating it. This will affect the ability to use this type in rental orders later on. An inactive unit type cannot be used.
    • Pricing Method: You can charge the client by days, hours, or both days and hours.
      • For Day Pricing, the system will ask you to:
        • Specify the start of the day in the “Check-in” box.
        • End it in the “Check-out” box so it can determine when the client is due for the rental and when to bill them.
      • For Hours pricing, the system will require:
        • Defining a Minimum rental Hours for this type of unit. For example, a room cannot be rented for less than eight hours.
        • It will also ask you to specify a time slots which can be 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour. This allows you to determine the actual rental hours when creating the rental order.
      • For Days & Hours pricing, the system will operate similarly to hourly pricing. However, it will allow you to set a special price for a full day (24 hours) and another price for the individual hours that don’t complete a full day.
    • Pricing Rule: Add a pricing rule, making sure it matches the pricing method you set for the rental unit type.
    • Tax 1: Add the first tax.
    • Tax 2: Add the second tax.
    • Description: Provide a detailed description for the rental unit type.
    • Images: Attach an image for the rental unit type profile.
