Why does the Quantity field show a value of 1 and can’t be edited?
A work item template represents a definition of the materials and services needed for just a single unit of the specified work item (example: the cost of one square meter of paint). That’s why the Quantity field always shows the value “1” as read-only and can’t be edited.
- The unit linked to this quantity appears next to it in the table summary: “Total (1 ‘[work item unit]’ of ‘[work item name]’).”
- When the template is later used within a cost sheet, the system multiplies this single unit by the actual quantity required in the project.
Note: if the selected work item has a unit already defined in the inventory, the unit is filled in automatically based on it.
