Can Excel files be imported directly without converting them to CSV?

Yes, XLS or XLSX files can be uploaded directly across all import screens in the system (such as: Invoices, Clients, Suppliers, Journal Entries, Products, Price Lists, Expenses, and Receipts), without needing to manually convert them to CSV beforehand.

How the System Works:

When a file in XLS or XLSX format is uploaded, the system automatically converts it to CSV format in the background before processing begins, and the import continues normally using the converted data. This conversion is invisible to the user; the import process and the column mapping screen work exactly the same way, regardless of whether the original file was in CSV, XLS, or XLSX format.

Note: if the file cannot be converted (due to being corrupted or in an unsupported format), the message “The uploaded file could not be processed. Please ensure it is a valid XLS, XLSX, or CSV file and try again” appears.
