Setting Up and Configuring Default UAE Taxes
When creating an account with the United Arab Emirates selected as the country, the system automatically generates the required UAE tax list in accordance with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) requirements, with no manual setup needed. This article explains the taxes the system creates automatically and how to manage them.
Before You Begin
- These taxes are created automatically when the UAE account is set up and require no action on your part.
- You can edit or delete these taxes after creation as needed.
- A tax cannot be deleted if it is linked to an official tax code in the UAE E-Invoice settings.
Steps to View the Default System Taxes
- From the main menu, click Settings.
- Select Tax Settings.
- You will find all default UAE taxes listed and ready for use.
Upon account creation, the system automatically generates the following taxes, which become immediately available across all tax screens:
| Tax Name | Rate | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Rated (VAT) | 5% | Inclusive |
| Reverse Charges (VAT) | 5% | Inclusive |
| Zero Rated | 0% | Inclusive |
| Exempt | 0% | Inclusive |
| Intra GCC | 0% | Inclusive |
| Amendments | 0% | Inclusive |
| Excise | 0% | Inclusive |
How to Edit a Default Tax
- From the main menu, click Settings.
- Select Tax Settings.
- From the tax settings list, click Edit and update the required data.
- Click Save.
Editing a tax name does not affect its link to official UAE tax codes, as the system maintains the link using the tax ID rather than the tax name.
How to Delete a Default Tax
- From the main menu, click Settings.
- Select Tax Settings.
- From the tax settings list, click the Delete icon next to the required tax.
- A confirmation message will appear — click Confirm to proceed.
If the tax is linked to an official tax code in the UAE E-Invoice settings, the following message will appear: “The tax cannot be deleted because it is already linked. Please remove the link from the UAE E-Invoice settings.” Click the link in the message to navigate directly to the UAE E-Invoice settings page and remove the link first.
Notes
- These taxes are created only once when the account is set up and will not be regenerated automatically if deleted.
- If the account country is not the UAE, the system will not generate any default UAE taxes.
- All default taxes are immediately available for selection across all transaction screens such as invoices, products, and services.
