Adding Tables in POS for Cafés and Restaurants
When selecting “Dine-in” as the order type, the “Select Table” window displays all tables grouped by capacity, with the option to add a new table directly from the same window without leaving the order screen. This article explains how to add a new table and navigate between existing ones.
How to Access the Tables Window
- While building a new order, select “Dine-in” as the order type.
- Click the table selection field to open the “Select Table” window.
Adding a New Table
- From within the “Select Table” window, click the “Add Table” button located at the top of the window.
- The “Add New Table” window appears — enter the following details:
| Field | Required | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Table Number | Yes | e.g., T1, T2 |
| Table Name | No | e.g., Corner Table, VIP Table |
| Table Size (guests) | Yes (default value: 4) | Sets the maximum guest capacity for the table |
- Click “Create Table” to save it, or “Cancel” to back out without saving.
Viewing and Searching Existing Tables
Tables are displayed grouped under subheadings by capacity (e.g., “4 guests”), with a counter showing the number of tables within each group.
- You can search for a specific table by name or number using the search field at the top of the window.
- You can filter by capacity using the quick buttons: All / 2 / 4 / 6 / 8.
Each table appears as a card that includes:
- The table name (e.g., VIP) with a distinguishing icon.
- The table number (e.g., #T1).
- The occupancy (e.g., 1/4) with a visual progress bar showing the occupancy level.
Important Notes
- Adding a table happens directly within the order creation flow, without needing to navigate to a separate settings screen.
- The colored progress bar on each table reflects the current occupancy ratio based on the number of registered guests versus the maximum capacity.
