Edit Task Type

This screen enables system users to edit an existing task type, allowing them to update its name or description, or deactivate it when it is no longer needed without permanently deleting it.

Before You Start

  • Ensure that the Task Management app is enabled. You can enable it by navigating to Settings from the main menu, then opening Apps Manager.
  • You must have the Manage Task Types permission to access this screen. Users without this permission cannot access the Edit Task Type screen.

Steps

  1. From the main menu, click Task Management.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Task Types.
  4. From the Task Types list, select the task type you want to edit by clicking the Actions icon for that task type.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. Edit the required fields: Task Type Name, Description, and Status.
  7. Note that the Task Type Code field is displayed for reference only and cannot be edited.
  8. Click Save to confirm your changes.

How the System Works

  • The Task Type Name must be unique in both Arabic and English. The system does not save the changes if the new name is already used by another task type. The system also does not save the changes if any required field is left empty.
  • When the changes are saved successfully, the system displays the following success message: “Task Type Updated Successfully.”
  • If the Status is changed to Inactive:
    • The task type no longer appears in the drop-down lists when creating new tasks.
    • Existing tasks already associated with this task type retain their association without any impact.

Validation Rules

  • If you try to save a duplicate task type name, the system displays the following message: “This field already exist.”
  • If you leave a required field empty, the system displays the following message: “This is a required field and could not be empty.”
