Can I assign an asset with a status of “Under Maintenance,” “Retired,” “Sold,” “Depreciated,” or “Written-Off”?

No. The Assign Asset option does not appear at all if the asset’s current status is one of the following:

Under Maintenance
Retired
Sold
Depreciated
Written-Off

The Assign Asset action is available only when the asset status is Not Assigned, Assigned, or In Storage.
