Why Did the Import Stop With a Plan Limit Message?
Employee import stops with a plan limit message when your file has more new employees than the employee slots available in your plan. Each new employee created by the import needs a free employee slot, so if there aren’t enough slots, the employees aren’t created.
What will you see?
| Where | Message |
|---|---|
| Popup | Your current plan doesn’t support adding more Employees, with the Upgrade Now and Cancel buttons. |
| Import result page | “You are creating 1 employee. Only 0 employee slots are available. You need 1 extra employee slot.” (The numbers depend on your file and plan.) |
| Next to the row in the results | “You have exceeded your available slots. Please increase your limit to import this employee.” |
The result page also shows how many records were imported, updated, and failed. Rows stopped by the limit are counted under Records failed to import.
How do you fix it?
- Click Upgrade Now in the popup to go to the Payment page.
- Under Add-ons, increase the Employees quantity by the number of extra slots the message mentions. Below the field, you can see how many slots your plan includes and how many are used.
- Review the Add-ons Total, then click Confirm and complete the Checkout step.
- After increasing your limit, import the same file again.
🛈
Notes:
- If a row has another error (for example, a branch that doesn’t exist), that error shows next to it instead of the limit message. Fix it in the file before importing again.
- If you don’t want to increase your limit, click Cancel, remove the extra new employees from the file so they fit your available slots, and import again.
