What happens if there is more than one approver at the same level?
If you select more than one approver within the same approval level (whether within a multi-cycle approval path or a single approval), the system works on an “OR” logic: it’s enough for any one of these approvers to approve in order to complete that level and move on to the next level (or finalize the request if it’s the last level).
- Approval from all approvers at the same level is not required; approval from just one of them is sufficient.
- Once any one of them approves, that level automatically closes, and the remaining approvers at the same level are not required to take any action.
Note: this differs from the case of the same person appearing at more than one level (such as being both a Direct Manager and a Department Manager at the same time), where the subsequent levels are automatically skipped; here, on the other hand, we’re talking about several different people within the same single level, where approval from just one of them is enough.
