Add New Task Type
This feature enables system users to create new task types that can later be selected when creating or editing tasks. Task types help categorize tasks consistently across the system, making it easier to organize and track work based on the nature of each task. Before using this feature, ensure that the Task Management app is enabled through Apps Manager. You must also have the Manage Task Types permission to add a new task type.
Before You Start
- You must have the Manage Task Types permission to access the Add Task Type screen. Users without this permission cannot access the screen.
- Ensure that no task type with the same name already exists in either Arabic or English, as the Task Type Name must be unique in both languages.
Steps
- From the main menu, click Task Management, then click Settings.
- Click Task Types.
- Click Add Task Type.
- Enter the following information:
- Enter the Task Type Name (required).
- Enter a Description if you want to clarify the purpose of the task type (optional).
- Select the Status (Active or Inactive). Active is selected by default (required).
- Click Save to create the task type.
How the System Works
- After you enter the task type information and click Save, the system creates the new task type and adds it to the Task Types list.
- When the task type is saved, the system automatically generates the Task Type Code, which cannot be edited by the user.
- The new task type becomes immediately available in the Task Type drop-down list when adding or editing a task.
- If the Status is set to Inactive, the task type does not appear in the task type drop-down lists when creating tasks. However, it remains saved in the system and can be reactivated later.
- The system does not allow creating more than one task type with the same name. It verifies that the Task Type Name is unique before saving.
Validation Rules
- The Task Management app must be enabled from Apps Manager under the Human Resources Management section before Task Management appears in the main menu and users can access the Task Types screen.
- You must have the Manage Task Types permission to add a new task type.
- The system does not save the task type unless all required fields are completed.
- The Task Type Name must be unique and not previously used.
- If you leave a required field empty, the system displays the following message: “This is a required field and could not be empty.”
- If you enter a task type name that already exists, the system displays the following message: “This field already exist.”
