Can I reassign an asset that’s already assigned to someone else?
Yes, an asset can be reassigned even if it’s already assigned, as long as its current status is one of: “Not Assigned”, “Assigned”, or “In Storage”.
Click the “Assign Asset” button from the asset’s view screen, then:
- Select “Used By”: Employee or Storage.
- If you select Employee, the “Employee” field appears (required), and the asset’s status after assignment becomes “Assigned.”
- If you select Storage, the “Storage” field appears (required), and the asset’s status after assignment becomes “In Storage.”
- Specify the “Physical Location” (required).
Once the new assignment is confirmed, it immediately replaces the asset’s previous assignment.
Note: an asset cannot be reassigned if its current status is “Under Maintenance” or “Retired,” or if it’s linked to an accounting asset with one of the following statuses: “Sold,” “Depreciated,” or “Written-Off.”
