Task History Timeline
This feature enables users to view the key events that occurred throughout the task lifecycle, allowing them to understand how the task progressed over time and track the most important changes without reviewing the full Activity Log.
Before You Start
- Ensure that the Task Management app is enabled through Apps Manager by navigating to Settings from the main menu.
- This feature requires the View Task permission.
Steps
- From the main menu, click Task Management.
- Click Tasks.
- From the required task row, click the Actions icon, then select View.
- Within the Details tab, scroll to the History section to view the Task History timeline.
- Each event appears in reverse chronological order and includes the event icon, event description, actor name, and date and time.
How the System Works
- The Task History timeline records only the key events in the task lifecycle: task creation, assignment, reassignment, status changes, and adding or updating the linked record.
- Each event appears in reverse chronological order and displays the date and time, followed by the event description, then the actor name, along with an icon representing the event type. Example: “{Date and Time} Status changed from In Progress to Completed by {Name}”.
- Events appear in reverse chronological order, with the most recent event displayed first.
- The Task History timeline differs from the full Activity Log. It displays only the key events listed above, while the Activity Log is intended to cover a wider range of actions performed on the task.
Validation Rules
- The Task History timeline is displayed only to users who have the View Task permission.
- Each event in the timeline must include the actor name, event description, and date and time.
