Task Notifications

This feature enables users to receive instant notifications when a task is assigned to them or when a task they created is completed, allowing them to stay informed about task updates and respond to them quickly. The notification bell icon remains visible in the top bar across all system screens, regardless of the screen the user is viewing. Through it, users receive notifications specifically related to them, along with other notifications.

Before You Start

  • Ensure that the Task Management app is enabled through Apps Manager by navigating to Settings from the main menu.
  • Task notifications are generated automatically by the system and are displayed only to users who have the View Own Tasks permission.
  • Users receive notifications only for tasks they are directly involved in, either as the assignee or the creator.

Steps

  1. From any screen in the system, click the Notification Center bell icon in the top bar.
  2. The list displays notifications related to your tasks, including the task title, task code, and time.
  3. Click the required notification to navigate directly to the related Task Details screen.

How the System Works

  • When a task is assigned to a user, either when it is created or reassigned, the system sends them the following notification: “A new task “{Task Title}{Task Code}” has been assigned to you.
  • When the task assignee marks the task as completed, the system sends the task creator the following notification: “The task “{Task Title}{Task Code}” has been completed.
  • Each notification displays the task title and timestamp and contains a link that navigates directly to the Task Details screen.
  • When multiple notifications of the same type are grouped, a single grouped notification is displayed instead of a separate notification for each task:
    • For assigned tasks: “You have {number} of Assigned Tasks.
    • For completed tasks: “You have {number} of Completed Tasks.

Validation Rules

  • Task notifications are displayed only to users who have the View Own Tasks permission.
  • Users receive notifications only for tasks they are the assignee of or the creator of.
  • Each notification must contain the task title and timestamp.
  • Unread notifications are visually highlighted until they are opened.
