Can I settle an amount greater than the outstanding balance on the invoice or the custody’s remaining balance?

No, the system prevents entering a settlement amount that exceeds either of the following limits:

• The amount for a single row exceeds the outstanding balance on that invoice: the message “The amount exceeds the outstanding balance of this invoice” appears.
• The combined total of all settlement rows exceeds the custody’s remaining balance: the message “The total settlement amount exceeds the current remaining balance, please adjust the entry amounts” appears.

Note: below the selected invoice in the “Reference” cell, text appears showing “Outstanding: [amount] [currency]”, to help you know the maximum amount allowed before saving.
