Adding a new account in the Chart of Accounts

Daftra system handles the management of your financial accounts and processes its operations automatically. In light of this, you can add an unlimited number of main and sub-accounts, according to what the nature of your business requires.

Steps to add a new account in the Chart of Accounts

  1. Click on “Accounting” from the main menu.
  2. Click on “Chart of Accounts”.
  3. The program displays the chart of accounts  in a hierarchical organization.
  4. Click on the “Add Account” button.
  5. Enter the details of the account you wish to add to the directory:
    • Account Type: Choose the account type, either “Sub-account” or “Main Account”.
    • Code: Assign a code to the new account.
      • Note: Duplication of codes for any sub-accounts or main accounts within the chart is not allowed.
    • Name: Enter the account name as required.
    • Main Account: You can specify the main account under which the new account will be listed.
    • Type: Determine the nature of the account, whether it’s “Credit” or “Debit”.
  6. Click on the “Save” button.

Note: Please be aware that accounts like Clients, Suppliers, Treasuries, Bank Accounts, Warehouses, Assets, and Taxes are not added through the chart of accounts. Instead, they are added through their specific app.

Example: Adding a client is done by going to the Clients app > Add New Client.

After saving the client, a sub-account for them will be automatically added by the program within the Chart of Accounts.
