Client Opening Balance

What is a Client's Opening Balance?

The opening balance for the client is the amount carried over at the beginning of the fiscal year from old accounting transactions for this client. The balance is positive (+) if the client is the one who owes the money. It is negative (-) if the client  is the one entitled to the money, and thus he can pay his subsequent bills from this amount/balance.

1. Enabling Opening Balance

  1. Click on “Clients” from the main menu.
  2. Click on “Client Settings“.
  3. Click on the “General” tab.
  4. Check the box for “Opening Balance” to activate it.
  5. Click on the “Save” button.

2. Adding an Opening Balance to a new Client

  1. Click on “Clients” from the main menu.
  2. Click on “Add New Client“.
  3. Under account details, add the required value in the field for “Opening Balance“.
    • Note: The opening balance value is entered with a negative sign in the case of a creditor client.
  4. Complete the details of the client you want to add.

  5. Click on the “Save” button.

3. Adding Opening Balance to a registered Client

  1. Click on “Clients” from the main menu.
  2. Click on “Manage Clients“.
  3. Click on the required client profile.
  4. Click on the “Add Opening Balance” button.
  5. Enter the opening balance value for the client in the “Amount” field.
    • Note: The amount is entered with a negative value in the case of a creditor client.
  6. Set the “Date” for adding the client’s balance to the account.
  7. Select the “Currency” for the client’s opening balance.
  8. Click on the “Add” button.
