Tags are used to filter and categorize journal entries. In this guide, we will walk through the steps of adding tags to journal entries. You can refer to this guide to learn more about enabling the tagging feature for journal entries.
How to Assign Tags to a Journal Entry
First, ensure that the “Assign Tags to Journal Transactions” setting is enabled from the Accounting settings.
Click on “Add Entry” from the drop-down menu under “Accounting” in the main menu if you want to add a tag to a new entry. Alternatively, click on “Journal Entries” from the drop-down under “Accounting” in the main menu, then select the existing entry you want to tag.
Next to the account name and entry description, you’ll find a tag field. Type the tag you want to use to categorize this entry, then press the “Enter” key.
After saving the entry, you can filter by these tags using the search and filter box located on the “JournalEntries” screen under “Accounting.”
