An App, Menu, or Report Doesn’t Appear in the System? Causes and Solution
Sometimes you look for an app, a menu, a tab, or a report in the system and don’t find it; for example: “the Attendance app isn’t there” or “the Inventory menu disappeared”. Most of the time it isn’t a problem, but is due to one of the following reasons. Apply them in order, and you will usually find the solution in the first two steps.
Reason One: The App Isn’t Enabled
Every part of the system (inventory, attendance, payroll, point of sale…) is an app, and its menu doesn’t appear until it is enabled.
- Log in as the owner or a user with the permission to edit general settings.
- Open the Apps Manager.
- Search for the app by name, such as Employee Attendance.
- Enable the switch next to it, and the message «App enabled» appears.
- Save and refresh the page, and you will find the menu has appeared in the side menu.
🛈
Note: Some apps depend on other apps, and the system enables them automatically with it. For example Employee Attendance needs Organizational Structure and Employees.
⚠
Warning: The opposite is also true: if someone turns off the Organizational Structure or Employees app, the attendance app stops automatically with it. If attendance suddenly disappeared, review these apps too.
Reason Two: You Don’t Have Permission
If the app is enabled and appears to the owner but doesn’t appear to you, your job role doesn’t contain any permission from this app’s permissions. The system hides the menu entirely if you don’t have a single one of them.
- Ask the owner or the manager to open Employee Roles.
- They choose your role and click Edit Role.
- In the app’s section (for example attendance), they specify the permissions you need, then save.
- Log out and log in again, or refresh the page.
An example of attendance permissions:
| If You Want | The Permission |
|---|---|
| To record your own attendance | Record Own Attendance (Online) |
| To see your attendance log | View All Own Attendance Logs |
| To see your attendance sheet | View Own Attendance Sheets |
| To manage attendance for all employees | Manage Attendance Settings, Calculate Attendance Days, Create Attendance Sheet … |
🛈
Note: The permissions of any app don’t appear on the roles screen until the app itself is enabled. And if the role is of type Employee (not User), it is limited to self-service permissions only, such as recording their attendance and seeing their data.
Reason Three: The Filter in the Side Menu
If you use the simple side menu, a selection for the app group (such as Sales or Human Resources) appears at the top of the menu, and the menu shows only the apps of the chosen group.
- Open the selection at the top of the side menu.
- Choose All Apps.
- All the menus will appear.
Reason Four: Pages Blocked for Your Role
The owner can block specific pages for a job role, so they disappear from the menu even if the permission exists. Ask the owner to review the Blocked Pages in the role settings.
Reason Five: The App Isn’t Available for Your Country or Business Field
Some apps are specific to certain countries or fields, and you won’t find them in the Apps Manager at all if they don’t apply to you. Examples:
- The Egyptian e-invoice appears only for accounts in Egypt, and the Saudi one for Saudi Arabia, and so on.
- Specialized apps such as Medical Prescriptions appear only for clinics and medical fields.
If you believe the app suits you and doesn’t appear, contact support.
Reason Six: You Are Looking for the Mobile App, Not the System Menu
If what you mean is the attendance recording app on the mobile:
- Make sure Employee Attendance is enabled (Reason One).
- Open Mobile Apps and choose Employee Attendance to download the app.
- Log in with the employee’s account, not the owner’s account; the owner cannot record their attendance from the app.
- The employee must be active and have the permission to record their attendance, and if they are of the user type, Allow Login to the System must be enabled for them.
Messages that may appear in the mobile app:
| The Message | The Solution |
|---|---|
| «App not enabled» | Enable Employee Attendance from the Apps Manager |
| «You don’t have the permission to record your attendance» | Add the permission to record own attendance to the role |
| The employee is no longer active | Activate the employee from their page |
What Doesn’t Hide the Menus?
- The subscription plan: the plan’s limits (the number of users or employees) prevent adding new records only and don’t hide the menus.
- The branch: changing the branch doesn’t hide the apps.
A Quick Checklist
- Is the app enabled in the Apps Manager?
- Does it appear to the owner? If yes, the problem is in your role’s permissions.
- Is the filter at the top of the menu on “All Apps”?
- Is the page blocked for your role?
- Is the app available for your country or field?
Frequently Asked Questions
I enabled the app and it still doesn’t appear
Refresh the page. If you aren’t the owner, make sure the app’s permissions were added to your role.
Why does the app appear to the owner only?
Because the owner has all the permissions, and employees need the permissions added to their roles.
I can’t find the attendance permissions in the roles screen
The app isn’t enabled; enable it first and then its permissions will appear.
