Why do payments that don’t match the filters appear in the Invoice Net Position report?

In the Invoice Net Position report, the filters, such as From Date, To Date, Status and Client, apply to invoices only, not to payments. So if an invoice appears in the report results, all its payments appear under it, even if the payment date is outside the period you selected. This way you can see the reference and date of every amount paid on the invoice.

Example: If you view the report for the period 01/09/2026 to 30/09/2026, and an invoice dated 15/09/2026 that was paid on 10/10/2026 appears, the payment appears under the invoice even though its date is outside the period.

When you open an invoice in the report, the following payments appear under it:

Type What appears When it appears
Payment The payment number, its date, and its value in the Paid column. Completed payments only.
Advance Payment The advance payment invoice number, its date, and the amount deducted from it for the invoice in the Paid column. In sales invoices only, when advance payments are enabled.

Notes:

  • Payment lines are for display only, and they aren’t counted in the report totals.
  • You can click the payment or advance payment number to open it.
  • The same applies to the Purchase Invoice Net Position report in the purchases reports, where only payments appear.
