Financial Transactions Report: View All Money In and Out with a Running Balance
The Financial Transactions report shows all the money that came into and went out of your business during a specific period in one statement sorted by date: client payments, supplier payments, expenses, and incomes. It shows a running balance after each transaction, along with the balance at the start and end of the period, so you can quickly see the net movement of money.

How It Differs From the Cash Flow Report
| Financial Transactions | Cash Flow Report | |
|---|---|---|
| Data source | Payments, expenses, and incomes directly | Journal entries and accounts |
| Format | A transaction-by-transaction statement with a running balance | A summary of cash flows by activity |
| Currency | One currency at a time | The base currency |
| Best for | Reviewing every inflow and outflow of money in detail | Analyzing the sources and uses of cash |
Notes
- The report doesn’t show transactions by treasury or payment method, and has no filter for them. To review the movement of a specific treasury, use the Ledger report for the treasury account, or the treasury page.
- Total Income and Total Expenses at the end of the table are calculated for the transactions shown on the current page. For the totals of the whole period, print or export the report.
- The report doesn’t include charts or grouping by period.
FAQs
Why doesn’t a payment I recorded appear?
Make sure the payment is completed, the invoice isn’t a draft, the payment isn’t from the client’s credit, its currency is the one selected in the filter, and its date is within the period.
Why don’t transactions in US dollars appear?
The report shows one currency only. Select US dollars in the Currency filter.
Why don’t transfers between treasuries appear?
Because a transfer moves money within your business rather than into or out of it, so it doesn’t appear in the report.
Where does the start of period balance come from?
It’s the net of all the transactions included in the report before the start date of the period, in the same currency and branches.
