You can suspend an account or a main account in the Chart of Accounts<\/strong><\/a> to prevent new transactions from being added to it, while keeping its previous transactions and its appearance in reports. You can reactivate it at any time.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> Suspending is different from hiding: hiding is available only for accounts that have no transactions, while suspending is used for accounts that have transactions and that you want to stop using.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Steps to Suspend an Account<\/h2>\n

    1. From the main menu, click Accounting<\/strong>, then Chart of Accounts<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n
    2. Open the required account or main account, or go to the main account it belongs to.<\/li>\n
    3. Click the account\u2019s actions button, then select Suspend<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    4. The confirmation message appears: Are you sure you want to Suspend account [Account Name] #[Code]?<\/strong> Confirm the action.<\/li>\n
    5. The message Account Suspended successfully.<\/strong> appears, and a Suspended<\/strong> label appears next to the account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Note:<\/strong> Suspending and reactivating an account are recorded in the account\u2019s activity log.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

      Reactivating a Suspended Account<\/h2>\n

      1. Open the suspended account in the Chart of Accounts<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n
      2. Click the actions button, then select Reactivate<\/strong>. This action appears on suspended accounts only.<\/li>\n
      3. The message Account Reactivated successfully.<\/strong> appears, and the Suspended<\/strong> label disappears.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        If the account belongs to a suspended main account, the main account (and any suspended main accounts above it) is reactivated automatically, so that no active account remains under a suspended main account. This also applies when you add a new account under a suspended main account or move an account to it.<\/p>\n

        Effect on Transactions and Reports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

        Add and edit forms (such as manual journals, Expenses, Incomes, invoices, clients, suppliers, cheques, and assets)<\/td>\nDoes not appear in the account selection lists, so no new transactions can be added to it.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        Accounting Routing settings<\/td>\nCannot be selected.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        Reports and report filters<\/td>\nAppears as usual with all its previous transactions.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        Chart of Accounts<\/td>\nAppears with a Suspended label.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

        If an account is suspended while another user is creating a transaction in which they selected this account, the user sees the following message on saving: [Account Name] #[Code] is suspended; Please select different account<\/strong><\/p>\n
