You can require users to distribute specific accounts to cost centers when creating or editing a manual journal, so that no journal is saved on these accounts without a distribution. To do this, enable the Require Cost Centers on Manual Journals<\/strong> option, then select the accounts that require distribution.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> Configuring this setting requires the Edit General Settings<\/strong> permission. The setting affects manual journals only, not automatic journals created from invoices and other transactions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Enable the Requirement and Select Accounts<\/h2>\n

    1. From the main menu, click General Accounts<\/strong>, then Accounting Settings<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n
    2. Click the General Accounting Settings<\/strong><\/a> card.<\/li>\n
    3. Go to the Cost Center Distribution Rules<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n
    4. Below the Allow Cost Center Distribution to Exceed 100%<\/strong> option, turn on Require Cost Centers on Manual Journals<\/strong> so it shows Enabled<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    5. Click Manage Accounts<\/strong>. The Accounts Requiring a Cost Center<\/strong> window opens.<\/li>\n
    6. Select the accounts you want, then click Save<\/strong> in the window.<\/li>\n
    7. Click Save<\/strong> at the top of the settings page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Note:<\/strong> The Manage Accounts<\/strong> button works only after you turn on the option. The setting isn’t saved as enabled unless at least one account is selected.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

      You can select several parent accounts and sub-accounts together, and search for accounts by name or code from the Search<\/strong> box at the top of the window.<\/p>\n

      Effect on Manual Journals<\/h2>\n

      After you enable the option, when you create or edit a manual journal<\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n
